What’s so good about healthy salmon? Salmon is often mentioned as being a very healthy food – but, is it really? Although these recipes might be simple (and, indeed, tasty!) many of you might be unfamiliar with salmon itself, what this fish is and how to cook it.

First of all, while cod is indeed a fatty fish, its fat content is substantially lower than that of other more fatty types of fish, such as salmon. Cod can have up to nine times the healthy omega-3s than salmon has, which can provide some significant health benefits. The next time you cook salmon fish, consider including some cod in your recipe. Cod is one of the best sources of the essential omega-3s, as well as for another nutrient, EPA.

One of the more traditional healthy salmon recipes features a nice piece of cured salmon on a cracker or flatbread, or even as a sandwich. Although this recipe may be traditional, it’s worth noting that you don’t really need a fancy oven to make this recipe work. All you need is a stovetop, some butter, a patty, some cheese, and a little olive oil. This is because the flavors of the fish were masked by the flavor of the canned salmon that was being served. However, if you are trying to mimic the flavor of the sea on the land, you can easily remove that masking and cook your meal in the same pan. You simply need to saute the salmon until it is light pink and done, and then add the Dulse and toss it into your recipe. This will deliver an exotic flavor that is difficult to find with many other types of seafood.

Healthy salmon burgers use fresh garlic for flavoring instead of store-bought brands. While buying tinned versions of these delicious meals is cheaper, the nutritional value is not as impressive as the fresh ones. For this reason, you might find that it’s worth making your own healthy salmon patty from scratch using fresh garlic instead of relying on tinned. You can make a delicious, healthy patty out of clams or other fish that are already prepared by the time you finish your meal. As far as making a healthy, homemade recipe with garlic salmon goes, there are no limits at all.
